Latest Updates from Our Project:

Hey, everyone!

If you are seeing this update, then you helped us raise $22,255 for the Enongo Animation Fund in just 60 days!!  THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

This was a truly global team effort.  While the vast majority of funds came in from the United States, we has backers generously give their hard-earned money to our project from around the planet, across five continents.  Backers came from Canada, the United Kingdom, Estonia, Germany, Australia, India, Qatar, Italy, the Dominican Republic, Panama, the Netherlands, Ireland, and Brazil!  Over 300 people from all different backgrounds, origins, and lifestyles believed in our movie.

We also want to give a special shout-out to (and, let's be real, humble-brag about) some very special backers who swooped in at the end: two of the directors of the new and truly wonderful animated short, Hair Love (which is honestly the best thing you'll have seen in all of 2019) –– Everett Downing and Matthew A. Cherry –– generously donated to our Indiegogo campaign!  Like so many of you, they know that animation is not only very expensive, but a beautiful vehicle for engaging storytelling, starting conversations, and even creating much-needed change.

Thank you, Hair Love crew!

Another bit of good news: Because our Indiegogo campaign successfully made and surpassed its minimum goal, we have qualified for an InDemand project!  That means that our Indiegogo campaign is STILL ALIVE, and people can continue to donate at their leisure and availability.  So if you know anyone else who would like to support an incredible team of Black women animators, help make history, and get a lot of neat rewards and merch, please send them our way (and follow us on social media)!:

We are all truly, genuinely, thoroughly so thankful to every single one of you for contributing to our cause.  Fundraising is full of highs and lows, and the lows get BAD.  But when we are able to attain a goal like this, with the love and support of so many people, it not only makes our project physically and financially possible; it also brings emotional validation to our cause, reminding us that this film is worthy, wanted, and important.  In many ways, that is the most essential contribution to the Enongo project.  We cannot thank you enough for your kindness, generosity, and trust.

We'll cool it with the Indiegogo updates for a while, but that's only because we're going to be working harder than ever to bring this film to life.  Our animators, composer, director, cinematographers, editing team, producers, and post-production artists are all bringing their best into this passion project.  We can't wait to share it with you.

Sammus merch will begin shipping out to backers in January (once she restocks her swag after all of her successful shows on the road!), and we'll have even more exciting updates on our production in the future.  In the meantime, let's make a movie...!

Hey, everyone!

Welcome to our newest backers!  We're honored to have your support on this exciting film of ours!

Last night's open mic fundraiser for Enongo at The Bronx Brand was thoroughly inspiring!  The evening was hosted by The Bronx Arts Initiative and MC'd by one of our animators, Bronx-born-and-raised Anaiyah Tatiana.  Thank you to all who attended and donated!

And we couldn't resist posting two covers by multi-talented Anaiyah, who performed "Part of Your World" from The Little Mermaid and "Almost There" from The Princess and the Frog with her ukelele.  Check out the link before the Mouse House takes it down!:

A nice thematic connection from the evening: For anyone who missed this behind-the-scenes trivia, our animated version of Enongo was designed by legendary African-American animation artist, Dan Haskett –– who, coincidentally, designed Ariel and other legendary animation characters, including Belle from Beauty and the Beast and several characters from The Simpsons and Toy Story, among countless other credits.  We're honored to have Dan's support on our film!

Support the next generation of animation champions!: We have just about 13 hours left in our campaign (it officially ends tonight at 11:59 PM PST).  Animation is absurdly expensive, and we need all the help we can get.  Every single dollar truly counts.  Let's make the most of the little time we have left so we can raise funds to make the best project we can –– Please spread the word, tell your friends to donate, and keep this project alive!:

Hey, everyone!

As always, welcome to our newest backers!  We're thrilled to have your enthusiasm and generosity on this passion project, Enongo.

A few updates and reminders for you all:

Enongo director Kevin Schreck hosted the Men's Gender Empowerment Group meeting at Reel Works Teen Filmmaking, a non-profit designed to provide young people from underserved communities the tools, equipment, and knowledge for filmmaking and life in general.  This month's meeting was focused on video games and gender roles.  For context and to inspire a dialogue, a clip from Enongo was shown (you can see it here on Facebook and on Twitter!).  The conversation was electric and inspiring, and included a discussion about everything from Metroid and Overwatch to Lara Croft and Princess Peach.  (And they even applauded for our footage!)

Last reminder for this great event happening tonight for all of you in New York City:

We're honored to announce that the Bronx Arts Initiative is presenting an open mic fundraiser for our film, hosted by Enongo animator, Anaiyah Tatiana!  The event will take place on TONIGHT6:00-9:00 PM, at 37 Bruckner Blvd in The Bronx.  Local artists and performers will be encouraged to perform their music, poetry, stand-up, and visual arts, and previously-unseen sequences from our movie will also be shown throughout the evening.  Director Kevin Schreck will also be in attendance.  Admission is just $10 and ALL proceeds go to our animation fund to support our amazing team of Black women animators around the country.

We are immensely humbled by this opportunity and love from the local New York community, and hope that you can join us for an exciting night of art and celebration.  If you can't make it to the venue that night, then please get the word out about our Indiegogo online!

More info here: https://www.facebook.com/events/3848664148492455/

Hope to see you there!

We have just ONE DAY LEFT (plus a few extra hours) to make the most out of this Indiegogo campaign!  Animation is ridiculously expensive, and we need all the help we can get (plus, we gotta pay for lame Indiegogo fees and send you all a ton of awesome Sammus merch!).  It's true that every single dollar counts, and our incredible team of artists deserve to be paid.  Every cent goes to their hard work (see a bonus clip of some before & after animation evolution by Ariel Paxton here!: https://www.facebook.com/enongomovie/videos/565611040884187/), so be sure to help get the word out so we can make this the best movie it can be!:

Thank you so much again for your kindness and support, everyone!  We are SO CLOSE to $21,000!  Can we get there today?  Only with YOUR HELP!  Let's make the most of the time we have left: let's make a movie!!

Hey, everyone!

As usual, welcome to our newest backers!  We're honored to have your generosity and kindness to help make our film, Enongo, into a reality!

A little humble-brag for you all: One of our favorite animation directors working today, two-time Academy-Award nominee Mark Osborne (SpongeBob SquarePantsKung Fu PandaThe Little Prince) chipped in some money to help our Indiegogo campaign along!  It's an honor to have someone who you admire see value in your own endeavors, so thank you, Mark!

But it doesn't matter who you are, where you live, what you look like, or even how much you donated –– you ALL are helping us make a truly unique and memorable cinematic experience.

And it's thanks to all of you that we can now officially say...

... we finally reached 100% of our minimum goal!!!  Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU, everyone!!  We're so fortunate to have your enthusiasm and trust in this project manifest in a massive, worldwide team effort.

A few SAMMUS bangers to celebrate with:

SAMMUS - Power-Ups: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s64aSHOk3bg

SAMMUS - 100 Percent: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bzZ3ONYNi10

SAMMUS - That Feeling (Beat the Game): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3TAaco2-5nQ

But keep in mind that this is called our MINIMUM goal for a reason: Animation is absurdly expensive, and every single dollar counts.  $20,000 gets us far, but not far enough to get everything we need accomplished.  Plus, we also have to factor in lame Indiegogo platform fees, as well as buying, packaging, and shipping all of that rad merch around the globe.  That's already a few thousand spent.  But if we can raise as much as we possibly can in our remaining two days, we might be able to get enough to make this happen.  So let's make this the best Indiegogo campaign it can be to make the best film we can make!  Please spread the word, tell your friends to donate, and keep this project alive!:

Thank you so very, very much for all of your love and support so far, everyone.  The past eight weeks have been grueling, exhausting, crushing, and uplifting –– just like filmmaking and animation!  Two days left, everyone!  Get the word out, and let's make a movie!!

Speaking of must-see events, a reminder that we have an upcoming fundraising event in The Bronx for all of your New Yorkers:

We're honored to announce that the Bronx Arts Initiative is presenting an open mic fundraiser for our film, hosted by Enongo animator, Anaiyah Tatiana!  The event will take place on Friday, December 6th (the day before the end of our Indiegogo campaign), 6:00-9:00 PM, at 37 Bruckner Blvd in The Bronx.

For more information, click this link: https://www.instagram.com/p/B5lcjCopoBI/

We are immensely humbled by this opportunity and love from the local New York community, and hope that you can join us for an exciting night of art and celebration.  If you can't make it to the venue that night, then please get the word out about our Indiegogo online!

On the topic of fundraising, we just reached 94% this afternoon!  But the stakes are extremely high, and time is quickly running out.  Also, while $20,000 is a big amount of money, we're really hoping to surpass that goal, ideally.  Animation is ridiculously expensive, but an essential component to bringing Enongo's story to life in cinema.  This is only possible if everyone does their best to spread the word.  We're counting on every single one of you to do your part to make this project known so this movie can happen.  Please spread the word, tell your friends to donate, and keep this project alive!:
