Wed Dec 26 '18 Announcement
over 5 years ago – Wed, Dec 26, 2018 at 02:22:18 PM

Hey, everyone!

We have a little holiday season surprise for you all, and it's perhaps our biggest news yet.  We are making big creative leaps in the making of our documentary, Enongo:  We will include original animation by a team of talented young artists!  Additionally, legendary African-American animator and character designer Dan Haskett (Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, The Simpsons, Toy Story, and much more) has created these truly incredible rough sketches of our protagonist, Enongo!:

Original character designs for the animation sequences in Enongo, by Dan Haskett.

We are immensely honored to have the talent and enthusiasm of such a celebrated artist in the making of this project.  These beautiful rough sketches will evolve with the visions of our animators, and the final results may vary.  But we feel that this leap in our film will creatively enhance our documentary.

Renowned character designer Dan Haskett, who is supplying original designs for our documentary's forthcoming animation team.

Of course, animation is ridiculously expensive, and we can use all the help we can get to make this vision into a reality and share Enongo's journey with you.  Be sure to spread the word and follow us:

Sammus kicking butt at Keystone Comic-Con in Philly.

Hey, everyone!

Just a couple of updates: First, we're back on IndiegogoWe're using the InDemand function, which means people can donate anytime they like with no deadlines, and still receive the same great Sammus merch and rewards that we had in our initial campaign.

Second, we're honored to announce a new crew member to our production: Marcus Cochran, our new production assistant.  Marcus is a recent high school graduate from Brooklyn, and film courses through his veins.  This will be his first film production, and we are so excited to have an eager, enthusiastic, and talented young artist who lives, breathes, and eats film on our team to help make this documentary into a reality.

James, Jess, Naimah, and Kevin ready to film Sammus' set at Keystone Comic-Con in Philly.

Filming has been going great.  We have been so lucky to collaborate with such an amazingly talented group of artists and technicians, all putting in their hard work to help bring our movie to life.  Back in Philly, Enongo is working like crazy on her Ph.D. thesis, and we’ll be making more time to document the making of her latest album.  In the meantime, with the coming winter, we’re editing the project, honing in on the narrative to make a compelling, moving, and exciting film.

Finally, today is #GivingTuesday.  So now that we're back up on Indiegogo, feel free to spread the word to your friends, families, neighbors, coworkers, roommates, and strangers on the street!  They'll get tons of t-shirts, digital downloads, signed Sammus CDs, LPs, and much, much more!:
